Probably would never bring any of my cars here again. Brought my truck in for a diagnosis and quote to repair. The timing chain needed replacing which is a big job for this truck as the engine has to be removed. Finally got the estimate from Tooles and was quoted a ridiculous amount of money. $199 an hour plus over $2,000 in parts. This is a 2005 Ford, the parts are readily available from many different suppliers. I couldn’t understand why they would charge me 25% more for parts than if I bought directly from Ford themselves. It became very obvious after speaking to them on the phone that they just didn’t want this job. Took my truck for A Care Auto Repair and was quoted $1500 less. They actually want the work. If you don’t want the job then just be transparent about it. Don’t send me an estimate that makes no sense. For example, a $38 oil filter. What? Just tell me you don’t want the job. It was really a waste of $199 diagnostic fee because they didn’t tell me anything I didn’t already know, just wasted my time with that inflated estimate which took nearly 2 days to receive.

I had a very positive experience at Toole's Garage. Rafael was exceptionally welcoming, friendly, and informative. It was almost fate that I experienced a car issue right in front of their establishment. In short, the overall experience was excellent. The only aspect that could be improved was the pricing, as I felt it was slightly high. Specifically, the test and analysis cost $200, which seemed a bit excessive. I believe that a price of $200 would be fair if we had decided against having the car serviced at that location. However, considering I did choose to have the service performed there, and the total cost amounted to $800.00 (for a rather easy fix), I feel the $200 should've been waived. This is how the other mechanic shops do business, in my past experience. However, their customer service is truly outstanding. After resolving the initial problem with my car, they identified another issue that requires attention. I do intend to return to them to address this additional concern.

Update (9/15/2025): Since my first visit, I have returned to Toole's Garage twice more, and Rafael & Doc have consistently provided excellent service. The second visit was to address a pulsation damper leak, and the third was to repair my AC system. They are truly genuine and honest guys, and they have certainly earned my trust. I am very pleased to have discovered such a fantastic auto shop in central Stockton. The prices for the last two visits were also pretty reasonable. These gentlemen are wonderful!

We got our car radiator fixed there and they did an excellent job. We even had them fix our battery cables today and was out in 15 minutes. Very professional and friendly staff. We definitely going back for our car needs.

I have 2 visits here so far and they have been a success. I have had my alternator/electrical witing/ spark plugs/coils/headers(catalyc converters)/head gasket replaced. They even do oil changes. Ralph and Doc were great to me and my car is a headache to deal with for me but they get it done and I am very happy to be able to rely on them whenever I need. Price is reasonable and I plan on taking my other cars if any engine troubles of the sort occur. 2008 Mitsubishi eclipse GT spyder parts are not that easy to find but they manage to make it happen and although sometimes a code in a car may not provide the actual problem , they managed to figure it out using their experience and expertise. My car runs strong now. I like that they give you a heads up and total diagram/overlook of what they have inspected through pictures and videos.Great experience.

I was referred to Toole's by my MaxCare warranty for my 2014 Honda Accord. From the moment I set up my appointment till the moment I picked up my car----SUCH A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE! Rafael was able to answer some general questions on the phone. Luckily, he was the one to welcome me the following day as I dropped off my car. I received a call from Rafael later in the day stating the findings and how they fixed them and were hoping I could drive the vehicle around to make sure the "weird" noise was gone. I showed up, took it for a spin and YUP---noise was gone. Who knew something so simple (in my eyes) could stress me out that much. I paid them, and received a receipt and detailed report, complete with pictures to my email. Plus, and this was a NICE detail...my car was vaccumed and windows/dashboard cleaned. My car looked AMAZING! Thank you Rafael and staff for ALL your help and efforts. You have made a happy customer out of me.

I was very impressed, as was my car-guy brother in law. I took a new-to-me 2014 Volkswagen Eos in for a checkup. They provided me with a very thorough description of what they looked at and what they found. I chose to have them fix everything, which was pricey, but I have no idea what to compare it to. The car runs beautifully now. The staff were very professional and personable. The two guys I dealt with clearly love cars, love a challenge, and love hard work. I felt I was in excellent hands. I rate them as outstanding.
